About Me

My name is Lauren Muniz (she/her), and I am a compassionate and creative Licensed Professional Counselor who strives to empower others on their journey of healing. I received my Master’s in Mental Health Counseling from Monmouth University (NJ) and am licensed in several states. Together, we will collaborate to help you gain insight into the impact of your experiences and create meaningful changes in the present. I aspire to foster a safe, inclusive, and healing environment for each person seeking support.

The world is tough and life is tricky and sometimes we unintentionally internalize these experiences. Unfortunately, we often create even more hardships for ourselves by repeating patterns that continually yield unwanted outcomes. If this sounds familiar, it’s because you’re human! I am not a stranger to difficulty and stress, and I recognize the power that can exist sometimes in just being seen and validated in your experiences.

We can cultivate this space to be what you need - whether that’s skill building, processing experiences, or gaining deeper insight into yourself. My trauma-informed approach mostly tailors elements of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), but I draw upon other modalities as needed such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), a trauma-processing approach. I integrate evidenced-based and Mindfulness interventions in support of changing patterns of thoughts or behaviors that may be preventing you from living whole-heartedly. Additionally, I incorporate a justice-oriented perspective, so we can also discuss the impact of systemic issues and how they intersect with your mental health. I cannot change where you started, but I can support you to develop strategies to help you decide where you are going next.

In addition to my private practice, I also work with an organization that focuses on helping people develop mindfulness-based skills into their every-day life. This allows me to support under-resourced communities in other parts of the country and has been very rewarding. When not working, I enjoy spending time in nature, with loved-ones, and traveling.
